Porto to Braga by train
CP urban trains leave from Porto São Bento and stop at Campanhã, with more than twenty departures a day. The journey takes about an hour. Faster Alfa Pendular and Intercidades trains take about 40 minutes and require a seat reservation. Braga station is about 500 metres from the Arco da Porta Nova; from there, Rua do Souto is a 10 to 15-minute walk. Check times at cp.pt.

Driving to Braga
| From | Route | Approximate time |
|---|---|---|
| Porto | A3 | 45 minutes |
| Porto airport | A41 and A3 | 45 minutes |
| Vigo (Spain) | A-55 to Tui, then A3 | 1 hour 15 minutes |
| Santiago de Compostela | AP-9 and A-55, then A3 | About 2 hours |
The A3 is a toll motorway. Much of the old town is pedestrianised: we recommend the covered Campo da Vinha car park, a few minutes' walk from Rua do Souto.
Braga day trip or stay overnight?
Stay at least one night. On a day trip you see the cathedral and Bom Jesus at the same pace as the tour groups. In the late afternoon, when the coaches leave, the old town belongs to the people sleeping there: the pedestrian streets empty, the light drops over the Santa Bárbara garden and the city slows down. The next morning, Bom Jesus is almost empty. See the full itinerary in Braga in 48 hours.
Arriving at Senat
Senat is at Rua do Souto 9, in the pedestrian heart of the historic centre, a few steps from the cathedral. We welcome every guest in person: in the days before your stay, we'll be in touch to arrange your arrival time and send directions and parking details.
